Barry’s Bootcamp Review

Barry's Bootcamp Review

jessie.m.helton

I recently took a girls trip to South Beach in Miami, and couldn’t help but take advantage of all the awesome fitness options while we were there! Our first workout we tried was Barry’s Bootcamp in South Beach, and honestly we had a blast. I’ve seen lots of posts about Barry’s and unfortunately live in an area without a studio. Check out the details from our Barry’s experience down below, and hopefully you can try a class soon too!

The Studio

The Barry’s Bootcamp studio in South Beach is gorgeous and in such a great area! Miami is obviously huge, and we ended up spending the majority of our time in this small and incredibly nice part of South Beach. One of the special things about Barry’s is that it’s not only a fitness studio. They also offer awesome retail and have a fully stocked and operating smoothie and juice bar! Imagine ordering your customized smoothie to be ready right when you walk out of this super tough class. How great is that!

The Vibe

The vibe when you first walk into the Barry’s Bootcamp studio in South Beach is very Miami. They have tons of windows so it’s super bright and inviting. There are a couple of neon signs on the walls which have that fun Miami style to them. All of the clients are standing around chatting with each other, so before you even enter the studio you have a buzz of excitement around you!

The vibe inside the studio where you do the workout is dark, intense, and motivating. The lights stay low with only a soft red glow throughout class, which really helps you focus on yourself and your workout. They play great, upbeat music that also helps drive motivation while keeping things fun! I love the dark studio vibe because it helps block out everyone else around you so that you’re only worried about yourself.

The Workout

We went to our Barry’s class on a Friday, and it was a full body day for this studio which was perfect. Barry’s classes are split into time spent on the treadmill and time spent on the weight floor. We started on the treadmill, moved to the weight floor, got back on the treadmill, and then finished on the floor. I personally love a rotating class like this because it really helps keep me engaged and motivated! The treadmill sections of class were mainly sprint focused, while the floor was a true total body workout. On the floor we utilized hand weights, our body weight, and the bench for tons of different movements that worked muscles from head to toe.

Here are my overall workout results from class:

If you’ve ever experienced an Orange Theory class, this type of class set up will feel fairly familiar. One of the main differences is that there is no rower involved in the class. There is also no television or display of the movements you’re performing on the weight floor. You definitely need to listen and pay attention to the instructor so that you stay on track with the class. In our class, the instructor made sure to point out a couple of seasoned clients to use as an example to watch which was super helpful!

Overall Thoughts

If you ever have the opportunity to take a Barry’s Bootcamp class I would encourage you to do it! The music is great and the vibe inside the studio is motivating and exciting. You will get a killer workout with a great mix of cardio and weight training. All elements of class are absolutely able to be modified, so no matter what your fitness level is you can have a great experience!

Check out our after class picture! Clearly, we got a great workout 🙂
