We just got back from an unforgettable Hawaiian vacation where we stayed at the beautiful Halekulani Hotel. We spent 10 days lounging in the sun and exploring the island, and nothing felt better than returning to this beautiful property every day. If you’re planning a trip to Oahu anytime soon, keep reading for our review of the Halekulani!
Location
The Halekulani Hotel is located about 20-30 minutes from the Oahu airport, depending on traffic. It sits directly on the beach and right on the main drag of where you want to be in Oahu. There are tons of restaurants, bars, and shops within a short walk of the entrance to this beautiful hotel. They even have their own bakery right across the street! When it comes to a convenient location, the Halekulani is exactly where you want to be.
Amenities
The Halekulani has 3 main restaurants, each with their own bar, a couple of other bars/lounges, and a beautiful pool deck. The concierge is always available to help with planning activities, dinner reservations, or to make suggestions on things to do or see while you’re on vacation. We spent a couple of hours every day at the pool, and enjoyed hearing the ocean waves at the same time. The hotel also has a very nice fitness facility for anyone interested in squeezing in a workout, and a highly rated spa for relaxation. We ate multiple meals here on site, and the food is excellent!
Accomodations
The room we stayed in was a King Ocean Front Suite, and it was perfect. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and Diamond Head, which was incredible to watch at both sunrise and sunset. We could also see the pool from our room, which made it easy to see the crowd level every day. The rooms are updated, clean, and modern. You have a seating area, mini fridge and coffee station, and good closet space for 2. There are some rooms at the Halekulani that don’t have the same oceanfront view, so make sure to check that when you’re selecting your accommodations!
Price
Pricing at the Halekulani is not cheap, and they market themselves as a luxury destination in Oahu. I will say this is one of the more expensive vacations we’ve taken, especially to stay at the same place the whole time. I will also say that after walking through and around other resorts, it was a relief knowing we were going back to the Halekulani at the end of the day. This resort property is much quieter, upscale, and even though it’s not adults only, has the adults only vibe. You will be paying for that peace of mind, but in my opinion it’s totally worth it.
Overall Rating
Although it is pricey, Aubrey and I agree the Halekulani is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Oahu. We would give the property 4.5/5 stars and certainly consider visiting again in the future. Our one disappointment from the hotel is that even though it is directly on the beach, there is not immediate access to being able to sit on the beach. However, you can walk a few blocks in either direction, rent or bring your own chairs, and still enjoy the beautiful Oahu beaches.
