Workout #8: YogaSix Review!

Workout #8: YogaSix Review!

With all the CrossFit, high intensity workouts that I love, I also really enjoy yoga. Naturally, I am not very flexible at all! I love the stretch and calm that comes over me when I take a yoga class, and hope to incorporate more into my routine. One of the well known yoga studios in this area is YogaSix. I believe it is a franchise type of studio, but the one in Knoxville is very personal and great! I have taken one class at the studio months ago during Covid, and have wanted to go back. This last week I had the opportunity to take 2 of their other specialty classes! Read below for my take on these classes and my experience at the Knoxville YogaSix studio.

Y6 Restore

The Y6 Restore class was my first experience with this studio back in January. I can remember almost as vividly today how much I enjoyed this class! I went with my best friend Leslie on a Friday after a long week of tough CrossFit workouts. The class is described to be great active recovery for most athletes, focusing on floor postures to stretch all major muscles of the body. It was exactly what the doctor ordered! Almost all classes as YogaSix are in a heated room, and that made this class even better! The warmth, on top of the extra time spent in each pose and stretch made this the perfect recovery class. The instructor’s name for this class was Heather, and she did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend this class at least once a week to anyone who exercises on a regular basis!

Y6 Slow Flow

I was able to take this class Tuesday evening at 7 pm, which worked perfect for my work schedule. The instructor’s name was Sydney, and I actually know her from her teaching yoga at the Farragut Neighborhood Barre studio! This class is described as being slower to allow clients more time to get deep into poses, while flowing through smooth transitions. This was an excellent workout! I would not consider this class active recovery, but would say that it is a great option for anyone working out consistently. The heated room adds an extra element that kicks the class up a notch, and the flowing transitions keep your heart rate up in a controllable way. I really liked this class, would say that it’s a step up from the Y6 Restore class, but also very doable for any level of experience.

Y6 Sculpt & Flow

This, my friends, was a killer workout! One of my good friends and fellow fitness instructors named Jaclyn has recently been certified to teach this class. I was so excited to get to be there for one of her first times teaching on Sunday! This specialized class is described as a blend between yoga and the weight room, which is dead on! You start and finish with some yoga poses to get warmed up and cooled down. In between, though, we utilized hand weights along with body weight to complete rounds of HIIT style movements. Jackie’s class included movements like squat press, burpees, bicep curls, and more. This is an incredible full body workout done in a warm room, so you can imagine the sweat is pouring! Of all 3, I enjoyed this class the most and will certainly be back to take it with Jackie again soon!

Pricing and Final Thoughts

Depending on what you’re wanting from a yoga membership, YogaSix has a handful of options. They have drop in and class pack choices, along with monthly memberships. For me, I would say the 4 classes per month package at $66/month would be perfect. But, their monthly unlimited membership for the Bearden studio is only $116/month, and I promise you it is certainly worth that!

When some people think of yoga, they don’t consider it to be a workout that you get much out of. It is sometimes considered recovery or active recovery, and doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. I promise that if you visit this YogaSix studio in Bearden, you will not be disappointed by how you feel when you walk out. Every instructor, the studio managers, and the clients have all been nothing but fantastic! They have an introductory special online for your first week for $20, and sometimes will offer your first class free.
