Europe Trip Breakdown: Monaco!

Europe Trip Breakdown: Monaco!

jessie.m.helton

We are down to detailing our last 2 stops on our trip to Europe coming up in just about 2 weeks! (side note: if you want to catch up on all the stops leading up to this point check out my posts on London, Paris, and Venice!) I cannot believe we are so close to leaving and am so excited to give insight about our 4th stop of the trip, Monaco! Now, to be honest, Monaco was Aubrey’s non-negotiable pick for this trip. He had a trip planned here before the pandemic shut down all international travel, so he knew he wanted to incorporate it into this trip as a bucket list stop. Monaco is a beautiful, tiny, very wealthy country that I am so excited to get to experience! Let’s jump into the details of how we plan to spend our time here.

Timeframe:

If you thought spending only 2 nights in Venice was quick, hold on for this stop! We are only spending 1 night and about 36 hours in Monaco. There are a couple of different reasons for this. The main reason is that Monaco is VERY expensive. Outside of it being generally expensive, Aubrey insists that we stay at an iconic and extravagant hotel (which I’ll get into the details of later). The hotel also requires multiple nights stayed if you check in on particular days, so we really had to finesse this one to make it work with the rest of our schedule.

Hotel:

I am excited to stay in all of the hotels we’ve booked, but I will say I expect this one to really stand out! We are staying at the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo in a beautiful room with a view overlooking the water. I’ll put a couple of pictures of the hotel down below, but do yourself a favor and google it when you have spare time. This hotel is iconic and a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to stay in. They’ve also recently opened their beach club experience, so I’ve got my fingers crossed we’ll have enough time to enjoy that! Again I want to reiterate this is not budget friendly, but is once in a lifetime!

Activities:

Arriving in Style

Even though we’re not spending a lot of time in Monaco, we have a few activities planned that should create lots of great memories. To start, somehow I convinced Aubrey that we should include an add on to our reservation that he wasn’t too keen on at first. To be fair to him, it is a round trip helicopter ride from the airport, to a helipad close to the hotel, to have a driver take us to the hotel and back again the next day. Is this ridiculous? Yes. Is it also something I knew we would love and maybe never get to do again? Yes!

The Casino

The activity Aubrey is most looking forward to while we’re in Monaco is going to the Monte Carlo casino. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that Aubrey loves to gamble and is somehow also really good at it. I, on the other hand, am never lucky while gambling and try to stay away from it. The fun part of the Monte Carlo casino is that it’s black-tie and could be considered the nicest casino in the world. It’s been featured in movies like James Bond, and I’m sure if nothing else I’ll enjoy being in that type of beautiful atmosphere. Hopefully Aubrey’s luck will show up!

The Beach Club

Last, but not least, I would love the opportunity to spend some time at their newly opened beach club! This is a newer attraction at the hotel as far as I can tell. I have my fingers crossed we’ll be able to get there early enough in the day to at least spend an hour or two out in the sun.

Final Thoughts

Even though we’re spending the least amount of time in Monaco, we certainly have it packed full of plans! With it being our second to last stop, I know we’ll already have so many memories to take home.

If you’ve ever travelled to Monaco and have any recommendations, please leave them down below in the comments!
