Europe Trip Breakdown: Venice

Europe Trip Breakdown: Venice

jessie.m.helton

If you’ve been following along, we have an amazing 2 week European vacation planned for this summer! I’ve gone through the details of what we plan to do in both London and Paris, and am excited to talk about this next stop!

Our third stop in Europe is Venice! Truthfully, I have dreamed of visiting Italy for as long as I can remember so I am beyond excited for this stop. Spoiler: this isn’t the only city in Italy we’ll be spending time in during the 2 weeks 🙂 Check out our plans for staying in Venice!

Timeframe:

This stop is our second shortest amount of time we’ll be spending in a city. We are flying into Venice from Paris, and then flying out of Venice to Monaco about 48 hours later. Those flights should be interesting since they’re on local airlines that we’ve never flown on before.

Since we are only spending 2 nights here we will certainly need to make the most of that time! I’ve got my fingers crossed that we’ll get to do everything we want to, but I’m sure we’ll end up having to make sacrifices. I know Aubrey is excited about the history in and around Venice, and I can’t wait to try as much food as possible!

Hotel:

The hotel we’re staying at in Venice is called Hotel Londra Palace. Finding a hotel in Venice was easy and hard at the same time. We wanted to be centrally located and also try to have some special views. The great news is, most hotels offer a canal view which is what we were looking for. Once we looked around at pricing, this choice was the best for us!

Here are a couple of beautiful pictures of the inside and outside of the hotel:

Side note: we had a bit of a scare a couple of weeks ago when double checking all our accommodations. This was the only reservation we had no record of besides the amount we paid. After calling the hotel, which was an experience in and of itself, we were able to confirm and have the confirmation emailed to us! We were certainly sweating it, and were happy to have that confirmation when it showed up in our inbox.

Activities:

For me, Venice is going to be a lot about walking around and tasting as much food as possible! Pasta, ice cream, wine, you name it! We don’t have any type of excursions booked, but I do have a couple of formal activities in mind. Top on the list is to take an iconic gondola ride through the city! One of the best parts of where we’re staying is that we’re right on the Grand Canal. So, we would even be able to book a gondola ride through the hotel!

There is a lot of history in this city, which is Aubrey’s favorite. Some of the must sees will include St. Mark’s Basilica, Doges Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs. I’m sure the list will continue to grow, and honestly all of the buildings and architecture in Venice look beautiful!

Another activity I would like to try to get to is visiting the farmers market downtown that I’ve seen recommended over and over again from other bloggers. It is called the Mercado de Rialto and is right by the beautiful Rialto Bridge. The views are gorgeous and I know I will love this more “local” experience.

Final Thoughts

I have considered Venice a bucket list trip for so long that I honestly can’t believe I’m actually going to get to be there! It is one of the most iconic places in the world to me, and I’m hoping to soak up every second like a sponge. We look forward to sharing our must-do’s and favorites after returning from our trip.
